I love the criteria: Not “short and sweet,” but “short and deep.” Give me both: depth and conciseness.
Boy oh boy Mike! Do you ever know how to take those 26 letters, shake ‘em up, and spill them out on a page. What a wonderful introduction to the book. I hope nobody else wrote a story about saying goodbye to a couch ’cause I’ve printed this out so’s I can sleep with it under my pillow. Our couch has now been mentioned it the forward of a book. Oh happy day.
I’m reading the stories one at a time, and really savoring them. Thanks for including my story, “Dreaming as the Summers Die” in the Reader’s Guide questions at the end of the book. This book could really generate some fascinating book group discussions!
